You steer a snake around an arena shared with other players and eat sushi to grow. The more you eat, the bigger you get. Crash into another player and you are out, and the food you collected goes to the others.
The game runs on the mouse alone: your snake follows the cursor, and a click speeds it up. Poki lists phones and tablets as supported but documents only the mouse controls, so on a touchscreen use what the game shows.
Key table
- Eat the edges of the arena first. Loose sushi away from the crowd is worth the same as sushi in the middle and costs you far less risk.
- Use the click sparingly. Speeding up closes distance you may not want closed, and it is the quickest way into a snake you had not seen.
- Give bigger snakes the whole width of the screen. You are out on contact, so there is no version of a near miss that pays.
- When a big snake dies near you, take the outside of the pile. Everyone turns toward dropped food at once, and the middle of that is where rounds end.
This one suits you if you like a short round with real stakes. The arena is shared with other people, so the pressure comes from them rather than from a timer.
It is a poor fit if you want to build something over a session. One crash ends the round and your food goes to whoever is nearby.
- What happens when I crash?
- The round ends for you and the sushi you collected drops for the other players to take.
- Am I playing against real people?
- The arena is shared online with other players, which is what the .io in the name refers to.
- Can I play it on a phone?
- Poki lists phones and tablets as supported, but documents only the mouse controls, so on a touchscreen use whatever the game draws on screen.
