Progress starts on the treadmill. Training earns points, and points move you on to faster machines. Once you are quicker, you race elite runners for coins, spend the coins on shoes, skins and upgrades, and climb through the leagues.
Two other modes sit beside the main race. One is a red-light, green-light mode, named after the playground game. The other, Tung Tung Tag, has you run from Tung Tung Sahur while collecting coins; if he catches you, you join his team. On a computer you move with WASD or the arrow keys, and on phones and tablets with an on-screen joystick.
Key table
- Do the treadmill work before you go looking for races. Points from training are what unlock the faster machines, and the faster machines are what make races winnable.
- Spend coins on shoes before skins. One changes how you run and the other changes how you look, and only one of them shortens the next race.
- Treat the red-light mode as a different game. It rewards stopping cleanly rather than running fast, so the habits from the main race work against you there.
- In Tung Tung Tag, take the coins on your route rather than detouring for them. Being caught puts you on his team, which ends the run more reliably than a missed coin costs you.
This one suits you if you like watching a number go up. The loop is short, the training is unambiguous and each league is a visible step, so it reads well in ten-minute sittings.
It is a poor fit if you want to race immediately. The first stretch is a treadmill, and skipping it leaves you slower than the runners the game puts you against.
- Why am I losing every race?
- Almost always because there is training left to do. Races are balanced against the machines you have unlocked, so points earned on the treadmill are what close the gap.
- What is Tung Tung Tag?
- A side mode where you collect coins while running from Tung Tung Sahur. If he catches you, you join his team and the run ends.
- How do I move on a phone?
- With the on-screen joystick. On a computer the same movement is on WASD or the arrow keys.
